  Salt Lake City, UT - The 2015 Penn Mutual Varsity Cup National Rugby Collegiate Championship will take place at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, May 2. The Championship is slated for 2:00 p.m. MT and features the winners of the Varsity Cup Semifinals taking place this Saturday. The championship match will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network. Media looking to cover the event can apply for a media credential using the following link. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 28. Utah’s own Brigham Young University advanced to the 2015 Penn Mutual Varsity Cup semifinal last weekend, defeating UCLA 45-16, continuing their perfect 12-0 season. The Cougars remain the only college from Utah in the tournament after University of Utah was eliminated for the second consecutive year by Central Washington in a narrow 18-7 loss on April 11.  BYU is next scheduled take on CWU this Saturday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m. MT at South Field in Provo. Yoeli Childs is a 6-foot-7, 210-pound “banger” who preps at Bingham (UT) High School. His AAU coach Tim Davis call him a “throwback guy” who moves well for his size and has developed a nice hook shot. As a sophomore for the Miners he averaged 11.1 points and 5.3 rebounds and was named to the 5A third team. He posted a season high 22 points and 17 rebounds against eventual state champs Lone Peak in the 5A quarterfinals. During his junior season he averaged 16.4 points and 10.7 rebounds, leading the miners to the 5A quarterfinals and being named to the 5A first team. BYU Basketball Prospect: Brendan Bailey (Class of 2016)

Brendan Bailey is a basketball Class of 2016 recruit that preps at American Fork High School. The swingman is the son of former Jazzman and 13 year NBA pro Thurl Bailey. He started as a freshman for the Cavemen and averaged 5.7 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. As a sophomore he became a three point specialist connecting on 50 three point attempts (1.92/game). Between his sophomore and junior seasons he grew four inches which resulted in a position change from shooting guard to small forward. His junior season he averaged 14.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.9 steals per game and was named to the 5A third team all-state. Comfortable and confident on the wing or in the post he is currently working on driving the lane and becoming more of an inside presence.
