BYU Opens as 23-Point Favorite Over South Florida

BYU opens as a three-score favorite over USF.

NCAA Football: Brigham Young at South Florida Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

After being underdogs in its last two games, BYU opened at a 23-point favorite over USF this upcoming Saturday night in Provo. The over/under is 52.5.

BYU didn’t cover the near two-touchdown spread versus Arizona in the opener, but BYU covered and won outright as a 7-point underdog versus Utah and a 3.5-point underdog versus Arizona State. All three of BYU’s games have hit on the under.

BYU hopefully should be able to breath a bit with South Florida coming to Provo on Saturday. The Bulls are 1-2 on the season and picked up their first win of the season Saturday over Florida A&M. They got blown out by NC State in the season opener 45-0. BYU lost to USF in 2019 and can’t overlook them by any means, but this should be a comfortable win for BYU and hopefully a chance for players to rest up a bit before an October gauntlet.

USF’s three games have been a 45-0 loss at NC State, 42-20 loss versus Florida, and 38-17 win over FCS foe Florida A&M.

USF’s passing game has been off to a rough start. They’ve thrown for 518 yards with 1 TD and 4 picks and a 48.3% completion percentage. Freshman Timmy McClain is the likely starter, and has thrown for 372 yards, 1 TD and 2 picks this season.

BYU-USF will play Saturday night at 8:15 pm MST on ESPN2.
